Michelangelo, Adam, and Cheetah II

It's Evolution Week!

In a previous post, I asked whether the changing of religious iconography was offensive. Now I am getting ready to throw a flag on Time Mag for being unoriginal.

You can be offended if you want, the facts are no one knows. Eveolution is a theory, and ID is a belief. Both could be right in the end, and at the same time.

The more we know the the more we find out what we don't know. It's areally big universe out there to assume we know everything about it, or can ever know is man's folly.

To clarify, the question is whether one should be offended by clever morphing of religious iconography for ANY reason. Whether to sell mufflers, acne medication, or a special on the History Channel.

Another example is adding feet to the fish symbol of Christianity. Is it necessary to modify religious symbols to make a point?

By defending evolution vis a vis intelligent design, you are responding to a point that I did not make. I never asked whether evolution was offensive. During evolution week, we are covering the coverage, not debating the underlying point.

It is a really big universe out there. Big enough for many debates on many topics. Presenting canned responses to arguments that were never made does not do this big universe justice.
