Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (10-13)

Open thread Friday. Your choice of topics.

One topic might be special situation comedy episodes on death. Last night's The Office had a good one. Rivals the "Chuckles the Clown" episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. I vaguely remember the Family Ties one where Alex P. Keaton's friend was killed.

On Good Times

1. when James died and Florida didn't want to show her emotions. Then when everyone was gone from the post-funeral gathering, she threw the vase against the wall saying "damn, damn damn"

2. Special non-mortal consideration: When JJ Swanson joined a gang and got shot by Mad Dog

Flander's wife died, hilarious Simpson's episode. Did it dealwith death in a good way? No. But screw mental health...

Although I love the show, I thought one of the least funny Seinfeld's was where George "killed" his fiance with the poison weeding invites.

Then there are the real life deaths some sitcoms have had to deal with, notably Phil Hartman. Also, in a weird coincidence, two bailiffs in a row on the show Night Court died, and I think they might have even both died from lung cancer.
