Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (3-16-07)

It's open thread Friday. Give me your thoughts on the topic of your choice in the comments section below. Two possible topics:

1. If Attorney General Gonzales, who serves at the pleasure of the President, were to be fired under political pressure, how would that be different from firing U.S. Attorneys, who serve at the pleasure of the President, for political reasons?

2. Is there a rash of ATV gangs in homeowners' associations? Is that what the street toughs are riding nowadays?

An interesting thought on the "memory hole"; does anyone remember when all ninety-three U.S. Attorneys were fired in 1993 under President Clinton? Somehow, there wasn't that much of a fuss kicked up in the press at the time as I recall.

Is this different? I am uncertain. I do know that the two situations asked about differ because of who is applying the pressure; in one case, the President is firing the attorneys himself, while in the other case, there is outside pressure, much (if not most) of which is coming from the opposing party.
